How Do You Spell Reese's Puffs?

General Mills Spells Their Product Name Wrong

Reese's Puffs Commercial

I've been watching the Reese's Puffs commercial on TV and I'm astonished that they spell the name of their product wrong! How in the world did they miss this? Surely the most important part of any advertising is the name of the product.

I'm totally baffled how this got past so many people. The boy in the commercial is singing about Reese's Puffs while the Rap band sits on the sofa watching him. He starts spelling... R, double E, E, S, E, S. When he sings "double E" that means 2 E's. He then continues spelling the word by throwing in another E. That means that he is spelling it REEESES, with 3 E's!. He manages to do it to the word Puffs too as he sings "P to the U double F,F,S, although that part has been cropped from the commercial that is currently airing in my area.

How did this get by so many people? Did the song writer write it that way? Did the child read the lyrics wrong? What about the director, producer, and everyone else that is needed to shoot the commercial? No one noticed that it was being spelled incorrectly? Finally, what about the executives over at General Mills. Did they not watch the commercial before approving it?

Maybe it's a Rap thing. I don't really care much for Rap music so I don't listen to it very often. Perhaps rappers misspell things on purpose in order to obtain the rhythm they are after.  I tried to do a search on the subject and didn't find anything stating that, but then maybe its one of those things that you don't learn on the Internet, you just have to experience. Even so, I think I would demand that at the very minimum my product name was spelled correctly. I didn't find any of the rest of the words in the song being spelled wrong except for those words that are known to be slang such as "flava" for flavor.

In the long run, maybe it doesn't matter at all. It's a catchy little tune and if they are making money from the commercial, I guess that's all that counts. As for me, if I ever decide that I need a commercial done, the name of the product will be spelled correctly.

Note: The misspellings are apparent in the first couple of sentences of the video, so you don't need to watch it all unless you want to. This version is from Youtube and is much longer than the ones that appear on TV commercials.

Extenze Offensive to Women!

Ramblings - Mass Confusion

If you own a TV set, you've seen the irritating Extenze commercials hundreds of times per day. These commercials really annoy me. It was bad enough when they were just selling the product for men, but now they are selling the product to men for women!

They call their new product Extenze for women. But at no point have they ever directed their advertising towards women. First they get a woman to say the lines. I guess this is supposed to make me as a woman feel better because a woman is talking to me. But wait. She isn't talking to me. She's still talking to the men! "Is she too tired at the end of the day? Is she giving you the old headache excuse? Well then you need to buy our product". So now when the men buy this crap, do you think that they are going to whip out this pill and tell us to take it? No. Men will slip it in our drinks or try some other way of fooling us into taking it. Don't worry. If we have an allergic reaction or other problems, the man will quickly admit to you what he has done...right.

Waking Up Paralyzed

I wake suddenly as if startled. There is a feeling of foreboding in the room. What woke me up? A burglar? A ghost? I feel a presence and am afraid. I cannot move. If my eyes are open I can see the room, but I see nothing unusual. Why can't I move? Whatever bad thing woke me up will surely destroy me because I cannot defend myself. I try to wriggle a finger or a toe and cannot. The fear escalates. Finally I drift back off to sleep from the exhaustion of trying to fight the paralysis.
